The Barriers Remain Report, a collaboration between the Feminist Campaign School and CCG, is a continuation of previous research on women and gender minorities serving in elected local government positions in British Columbia and Alberta. This report sought to expand the research to Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
Alongside the report, we are currently developing toolkits and other resources to better support women and gender diverse candidates and elected officials throughout the 2026 election period and into 2027.
The first of these resources, the Strengthening Democracy through Diversity toolkit, is a guide for strengthening civic participation, public decision-making, and democratic practice for local elected officials.
